Description
This bloody popcorn with candy bones is the ultimate Halloween snack – crunchy, sweet, and just a bit creepy. Perfect for parties, movie nights, or even as scary-themed favors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 9 cups popped popcorn (about 1½ bags microwave popcorn)
- ¼ cup butter
- 3 tbsp light corn syrup
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 pkg (3 oz) JELL-O Raspberry, Cherry, or Strawberry flavor gelatin
- 2 tbsp Wilton Jumbo Bones candy
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F. Line a large baking sheet (15x10x1-inch) with foil, parchment, or a silicone mat to prevent sticking.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter and corn syrup over low heat. Stir in the brown sugar and gelatin powder until completely dissolved.
- Increase the heat to medium, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring often until thick and glossy.
- Quickly pour the hot gelatin mixture over the popcorn in a large bowl, tossing to coat evenly and work fast as the mixture hardens quickly.
- Spread popcorn onto the prepared baking sheet, using two forks to break into clusters. Bake for 10 minutes.
- Immediately after baking, sprinkle candy bones over the top, gently pressing them into the popcorn. Let cool completely.
- Break into bite-size pieces and store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Notes
For a spooky touch, add black food coloring to the ‘blood’. If no bones are available, use white chocolate chips or mini marshmallows instead.
