A cozy and delicious Chicken Tortellini Soup packed with wholesome ingredients, perfect for a family meal.

- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon mustard powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground sage
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/4 lb. bone-in chicken breast
- Salt/Pepper (to taste)
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- ¾ cup diced carrots
- 2 ribs celery, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 10 oz. refrigerated tortellini (about 2 cups)
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Season the chicken breast with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the diced onions, carrots, celery, and garlic. Sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and return the chicken to the pot.
- Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until chicken is fully cooked. Remove, shred the chicken, and return to the pot.
- Add tortellini and cook according to package instructions, about 5-7 minutes, until tender.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For a creamier soup, stir in a splash of heavy cream just before serving. This soup can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for 3 months.
