Description

These Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats are a fun and festive Halloween treat, perfect for families to make together and enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 ounces large marshmallows (mini marshmallows work, too)
  • 8 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup marshmallow fluff
  • 58 drops green food coloring
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 18 large candy eyes
  • 9 small Tootsie Rolls
  • 1/2 cup black or brown icing

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it’s nice and bubbly.
  2. Add in the marshmallows and marshmallow fluff, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  3. Stir in 5-8 drops of green food coloring to achieve the desired hue.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the melted marshmallow mixture with Rice Krispies until well combined. Work quickly before it starts to set!
  5. Press the mixture into a greased 9×13 baking dish and refrigerate for about 15 minutes or until firm.
  6. Once firm, cut into 3×4 inch squares for easier decoration.
  7. In a small microwavable bowl, combine dark chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second increments until melted and smooth.
  8. Dip the top inch of each treat in the melted chocolate and place on a cooling rack or non-stick surface to set.
  9. Use icing to attach the candy eyes and create a mouth below the eyes.
  10. Cut Tootsie Rolls in half and stick them to the sides of the treats with icing.
  11. Allow everything to set before serving.

Notes

Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Consider using different colors for variety.
