- 4 4-oz salmon fillets
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
- 4 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Rinse the salmon fillets gently under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and zest from the lemon.
- Rub the spice mix on the flesh side of each salmon fillet.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil once hot.
- Place the seasoned salmon fillets in the pan, skin side down, and sear for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Flip the salmon fillets over and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add butter and minced garlic to the skillet, spooning the melted garlic butter over the salmon.
- Squeeze in fresh lemon juice from half of the lemon.
- Check the internal temperature of the salmon, aiming for about 125º for medium-rare.
- Remove the salmon from the pan and garnish with a fresh lemon wedge.
Notes
For extra flavor, infuse butter with fresh herbs and consider adding a drizzle of balsamic glaze before serving.
