Description

Tender beef strips coated in a honey and black pepper sauce, offering a quick and flavorful dinner solution in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce (or Hoisin)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Chinese cooking wine (or Mirin, dry sherry)
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp coarsely crushed black pepper (or 1/2 tsp ground black pepper)
  • 2 tbsp peanut oil (or vegetable/canola oil)
  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced
  • 1/2 onion, peeled and sliced
  • 500g/1 lb thinly sliced beef (tenderloin, flank, sirloin, Porterhouse, strip, or suitable cut)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, Chinese cooking wine, water, and black pepper to create the sauce.
  2. Heat peanut oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until it begins to smoke.
  3. Add sliced onion and minced garlic; sauté for about a minute until translucent, stirring constantly.
  4. Add thinly sliced beef and stir-fry for about a minute until cooked to liking. Transfer beef to a bowl.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-high, pour the sauce into the wok, and simmer for about a minute until thick and syrupy.
  6. Return the beef and any juices back into the wok with the onions; toss until heated through.
  7. Serve immediately over rice or cauliflower rice.

Notes

Slice beef thinly against the grain for best tenderness. Adjust black pepper according to your taste.
