Description

Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the egg whites in a clean, dry bowl until soft peaks form, then gradually add the granulated sugar, beating until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy.
  3. Gently fold in the vinegar and cornstarch.
  4. Spoon the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a large circle.
  5. Bake for about 90 minutes, then turn off the oven and let the meringue cool inside.
  6. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  7. Once the meringue is cool, break it into pieces and layer in a trifle dish with the whipped cream and mixed berries.
  8. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.
  9. Garnish with mint leaves and additional berries as desired.
  10. Serve immediately or refrigerate for a short while before serving.

Notes

For best texture, use room temperature egg whites and layer cream and berries separately if preparing ahead.
