Description

Delightful chocolate cupcakes decorated to resemble Christmas trees, topped with festive sprinkles.


Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp espresso powder (optional)
  • 2 cups butter (cold and cut into chunks)
  • 10 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbs vanilla
  • ½ cup plus 2 tbs heavy cream
  • Pinch of salt
  • Green Gel Food Coloring
  • 1 M Piping Tip
  • Piping Bags
  • Golden Star Sprinkles
  • Holiday Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with festive decorative liners.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, blend together chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil, sour cream, heavy cream, eggs, cocoa powder, and espresso powder until smooth.
  3. Fill each liner about two-thirds full with batter, then bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Once baked, allow them to cool completely.
  5. For the frosting, beat cold butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar while mixing on low.
  6. Add vanilla, salt, and heavy cream, then mix in green gel food coloring until you reach desired shade.
  7. Use a piping bag fitted with an M tip to frost each cupcake.
  8. Top with golden star sprinkles and holiday sprinkles.

Notes

Store cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze wrapped individually for up to a month.
