Description
These Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats combine the classic, cheerful crunch of Rice Krispies with a fun Halloween twist, perfect for parties or family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 ounces large marshmallows (or mini marshmallows)
- 8 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup marshmallow fluff
- 5–8 drops green food coloring
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 18 large candy eyes
- 9 small Tootsie Rolls
- 1/2 cup black or brown icing
Instructions
- Begin by melting the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once it’s melted, add in the marshmallows and marshmallow fluff. Stir continuously until melted and silky.
- Add the green food coloring, starting with 5 drops, and mix well to achieve a vibrant hue.
- Quickly combine the melted marshmallow mixture with the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until all the cereal is fully coated.
- Press the mixture evenly into a greased 9×13 baking dish and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes until firm.
- Once firm, cut the treats into 3×4-inch squares.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine dark chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Dip the top inch of each Rice Krispies treat into the melted chocolate and set them on a greased cooling rack.
- Using black or brown icing, dot where the eyes should go and attach the candy eyes. Add details with icing beneath the eyes.
- Slice Tootsie Rolls in half and secure them to the sides of the treats using icing.
Notes
Make sure to work quickly when mixing the Rice Krispies with the marshmallow mixture, as it will firm up as it cools. Adjust the food coloring for your desired shade of Frankenstein.
