- 14 oz. penne pasta
- 1.5 lbs. ground beef
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (14 oz.) can diced tomatoes
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1.5 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions, reserving 1 cup of the cooking water just before draining.
- Return the drained pasta to the pot.
- In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add ground beef. Season with salt and Italian seasoning, cooking until well-browned.
- Break up the meat and stir until fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until softened.
- Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce.
- Add diced tomatoes with their juices, stirring to heat through.
- Pour in heavy cream and stir until combined.
- Add the shredded cheese and mix until melted.
- Combine the beef mixture with the cooked pasta, adding reserved pasta water as needed for smoothness.
Notes
For a baked option, transfer to a baking dish, top with extra cheese, and bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
