Ingredients

  • 14 oz. penne pasta
  • 1.5 lbs. ground beef
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (14 oz.) can diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1.5 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions, reserving 1 cup of the cooking water just before draining.
  2. Return the drained pasta to the pot.
  3. In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add ground beef. Season with salt and Italian seasoning, cooking until well-browned.
  4. Break up the meat and stir until fully cooked and no longer pink.
  5. Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until softened.
  6. Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Add diced tomatoes with their juices, stirring to heat through.
  8. Pour in heavy cream and stir until combined.
  9. Add the shredded cheese and mix until melted.
  10. Combine the beef mixture with the cooked pasta, adding reserved pasta water as needed for smoothness.

Notes

For a baked option, transfer to a baking dish, top with extra cheese, and bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
