Description

Juicy and crispy breakfast sausages made in the air fryer, packed with protein and flavor, and gluten-free.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground pork, chicken, or turkey (90-93% lean)
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper chili flakes
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 2 sage leaves, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup or raw honey syrup

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat and herbs and spices (garlic, chili flakes, thyme, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper, and sage leaves).
  2. Mix the ingredients together until well-blended.
  3. Shape the sausage mixture into patties about 3 to 3 1/2 inches wide and 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick.
  4. Place the formed patties on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil and preheat to 375°F.
  6. Once preheated, place 4-5 patties in the air fryer.
  7. Air fry the patties for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking.
  8. Check for doneness at 10-12 minutes.
  9. Remove the patties from the air fryer and keep warm.
  10. Repeat the steps for remaining patties.
  11. Serve with your sauce of choice.

Notes

For best results, shape uniform patties and do not overcrowd the air fryer. Experiment with herbs for different flavor profiles.
