- 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until well mixed.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract after each egg.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the grated apples and chopped walnuts, if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth, then gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla until creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled cake, cut into slices, and serve.
