Description

Fresh out of the oven, this vibrant lemon and herb pizza offers a delightful aroma and a zesty flavor profile, perfect for elevating any casual gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 shallot, halved and leaves separated
  • Chili flakes to taste
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 small Meyer or regular lemon, thinly sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves, torn

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, push the dough out until it is thin (about a 10 to 12 inch circle).
  3. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Lightly brush the crust with olive oil, then sprinkle with parmesan, sesame seeds, thyme, garlic, shallots, and chili flakes.
  5. Drizzle over the honey.
  6. Add the mozzarella and provolone evenly over the crust.
  7. Arrange the lemon slices over the cheese and top with torn basil leaves.
  8. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
  9. Remove from the oven and top with fresh basil. Slice and enjoy.

Notes

For best results, let your pizza dough rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before stretching.
