- 6 cups rice krispies cereal
- 3 Tbsp salted butter
- 1 (10 oz) pkg. mini marshmallows
- Orange gel food coloring
- 3 pretzel rods (end portions broken off into 2-inch pieces, so you’ll have 6 pieces)
- 6 mini green airheads or green fondant*
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Measure the rice krispies cereal and pour it into a large bowl.
- Melt the butter in a 4-quart non-stick saucepan over medium-low heat, then add the mini marshmallows.
- Stir continuously until the marshmallows soften, then incorporate the orange gel food coloring.
- Keep stirring until the marshmallows completely melt, then remove from heat.
- Transfer the rice krispies cereal into the melted marshmallow mix, gently stirring until coated.
- Let the mixture cool slightly, then spray your hands with cooking spray and shape into balls.
- Insert a pretzel rod piece into the top of each ball for the pumpkin stem.
- Shape leaves from the airhead candy and attach them to the sides of the pumpkins.
- Store in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
Notes
To enhance flavor, add a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice into the melted marshmallows. Ensure to coat your hands with non-stick spray for easy shaping.
