Transform a simple turkey breast into a succulent feast with this easy slow cooker recipe that guarantees juicy results.

- 2 kg / 4 lb turkey breast: skin on, bone-in or boneless
- 1 head of garlic: cut in half horizontally
- 1 onion: any variety—brown, yellow, or white—unpeeled and cut in half
- 5 sprigs of thyme (or use 2 teaspoons of dried thyme leaves)
- 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp salt
- 5 grinds of black pepper
- 1 1/2 – 2 tbsp olive oil
- Chicken stock/broth (or water): for topping up liquid
- 4 tbsp / 50g butter
- 1/4 cup / 35g flour
- Salt and pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Combine the rub ingredients (garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper) in a bowl to form a wet paste.
- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Slather the rub all over the turkey, coating sides and top generously.
- Place the garlic, onion, and thyme in the slow cooker.
- Set the turkey breast on top of the aromatics.
- Slow cook on LOW for 6 hours, checking the temperature at around 5 hours.
- Remove turkey from the slow cooker and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- For gravy, whisk together 1 cup of the slow cooker liquid with butter and flour in a saucepan, adding more liquid for desired consistency.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the turkey overnight with the rub. Ensure to check the internal temperature to avoid overcooking.
