Description

A simple and heartwarming take on a classic dish, these Slow Cooker Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls are easy to prepare and perfect for cozy night dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 14-ounce can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until it turns slightly pink. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion, dried thyme, parsley, salt, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook until the onions are tender.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to your slow cooker and layer it with the chopped cabbage.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Stir to combine.
  5. Pour the sauce over the meat and cabbage in the slow cooker and mix gently to coat everything.
  6. Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 6 to 8 hours.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, sauté garlic with the onions. Ground turkey or chicken can be used for a leaner option.
