Description

A versatile and hearty casserole featuring browned ground beef layered with pasta and cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (a mix of mozzarella and cheddar)
  • 1 cup pasta (elbow or shells)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: additional toppings (such as breadcrumbs or more cheese)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes with juice, beef broth, salt, and pepper; let simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Cook the pasta in boiling water until al dente, then drain.
  6. Combine the beef mixture with the drained pasta and half of the shredded cheese.
  7. Transfer everything into a casserole dish and top with the remaining cheese, adding breadcrumbs if desired.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

Notes

For a leaner alternative, substitute ground turkey for ground beef. Experiment with different cheese blends for varied flavor.
