Description

A comforting beef and potato casserole that layers ingredients for maximum flavor and a cheesy, bubbly crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef with the chopped onion in a skillet until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  3. Mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until smooth.
  4. Layer half the sliced potatoes in a greased 9’x13′ baking dish.
  5. Spread half of the ground beef mixture over the potatoes, then half of the cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure potatoes are sliced evenly for uniform cooking. Don’t rush the browning of the meat to build flavor.
