Ingredients

- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the baking dish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter, ensuring a non-stick surface.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese on top of the first layer of potatoes.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes, seasoning, and cheese, creating another layer.
- Pour the heavy cream evenly over the top of the potatoes.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Allow the potatoes to rest after baking to hold their shape for easier serving.
