Description

A warm, gooey dish of layered potatoes and rich cheese that comforts on any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter, ensuring a non-stick surface.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Sprinkle half of the cheese on top of the first layer of potatoes.
  4. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, seasoning, and cheese, creating another layer.
  5. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the top of the potatoes.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Allow the potatoes to rest after baking to hold their shape for easier serving.
