Description

Creamy and cheesy scalloped potatoes, baked until golden, perfect for dinner gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced (Yukon Gold or russets)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Gruyere, or your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped herbs (like thyme or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, overlapping slightly.
  3. Combine heavy cream, garlic, salt, and pepper in a saucepan, and heat until warm.
  4. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the cheese.
  5. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheese, ensuring the top is well covered.
  6. Dot the top with butter.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with herbs, and serve.

Notes

Ensure potatoes are sliced uniformly for even cooking. This dish can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
