- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for added depth)
- 1 (8 ounce) package shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 (10 ounce) package refrigerated biscuit layers (like Pillsbury Grands), cut into quarters
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- 2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned; drain excess grease.
- 3. Add chopped onion and bell peppers to the skillet with the beef; cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- 4. In a large bowl, whisk together condensed cream of mushroom soup, condensed cream of chicken soup, and milk.
- 5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika (if using). Taste and adjust seasonings.
- 6. Add the beef and vegetable mixture to the soup mixture; stir to combine.
- 7. Stir in 7 ounces of the shredded cheddar cheese until mostly melted.
- 8. Pour the beef and vegetable mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- 9. Cut each refrigerated biscuit into quarters and arrange them evenly over the top of the beef mixture.
- 10. Sprinkle the remaining 1 ounce of cheddar cheese over the biscuit pieces.
- 11. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
- 12. Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, or reheat the entire casserole in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes for a crisper topping.
