Description
Delicious fruit skewers coated in a crisp, glossy sugar shell, perfect for a fun snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb strawberries, grapes, or other fruit of choice (~30 pieces)
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Wash the fruit and pat it completely dry.
- Remove any leaves or inedible parts, and place up to 3 pieces onto skewers.
- In a small pot on low to medium heat, add the sugar and water without stirring.
- Bring to a boil and simmer until thick and amber, about 10 to 20 minutes.
- Test the temperature by drizzling spoonfuls into ice water to check if it hardens.
- Quickly dip the fruit skewers in the syrup to coat them lightly.
- Immediately dip the skewer into the ice water bath to cool and harden the sugar coating.
- Place each skewer on a plate and repeat the process with remaining fruit.
Notes
Best eaten fresh the same day as the coating becomes sticky overnight. Watch syrup temperature carefully to avoid burning.
