Description

Delicious fruit skewers coated in a crisp, glossy sugar shell, perfect for a fun snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb strawberries, grapes, or other fruit of choice (~30 pieces)
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Wash the fruit and pat it completely dry.
  2. Remove any leaves or inedible parts, and place up to 3 pieces onto skewers.
  3. In a small pot on low to medium heat, add the sugar and water without stirring.
  4. Bring to a boil and simmer until thick and amber, about 10 to 20 minutes.
  5. Test the temperature by drizzling spoonfuls into ice water to check if it hardens.
  6. Quickly dip the fruit skewers in the syrup to coat them lightly.
  7. Immediately dip the skewer into the ice water bath to cool and harden the sugar coating.
  8. Place each skewer on a plate and repeat the process with remaining fruit.

Notes

Best eaten fresh the same day as the coating becomes sticky overnight. Watch syrup temperature carefully to avoid burning.
