- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)
- ½ cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
- ¼ cup chicken broth (low sodium preferred)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Optional Garnish: Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- 1. Prepare the pretzel coating in shallow dishes.
- 2. Dredge chicken pieces in flour, then egg mixture, then pretzel crumbs.
- 3. Heat butter and oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- 4. Brown chicken in batches, 3-4 minutes per side. Remove chicken.
- 5. Add chicken broth to skillet and scrape up browned bits. Simmer for 1 minute.
- 6. Pour in heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
- 7. Whisk in cheddar cheese until melted and sauce is smooth. Season.
- 8. Return chicken to skillet, nestling it into the sauce.
- 9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and sauce is bubbling.
- 10. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for best results to retain some crispness.
