Description

A comforting one-pot dish featuring braised cabbage and lentils, perfect for a filling meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup of dried green or brown lentils, rinsed
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 4 cups of vegetable broth (or water)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Once hot, add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the chopped cabbage and sauté for another 5-7 minutes until it starts to wilt.
  3. Stir in the rinsed lentils, broth, salt, pepper, and paprika, bringing the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 30-35 minutes, or until the lentils and cabbage are tender.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, let the dish sit overnight before serving.
