Description

A delightful dish combining creamy mashed potatoes, savory sautéed onions, and cheese, baked to perfection in a flaky pie crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup grated cheese (e.g., cheddar)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pre-made pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash with milk and butter until smooth.
  3. Sauté the onion in a little butter until softened.
  4. Stir the sautéed onion and cheese into the mashed potatoes, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour the potato mixture into the pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Make sure the potatoes are not overcooked to avoid a watery filling. Use leftover cheeses for unique flavors.
