  • 1/3 cup Cornstarch (Helps achieve crispy texture.)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder (Can substitute fresh garlic.)
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder (Optional for milder taste.)
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika (Regular paprika can be used.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt (Adjust to taste.)
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs (Use gluten-free for gluten-free version.)
  • Fresh Herbs (Use parsley or cilantro.)
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking Spray or Oil (Ensure crispiness in air fryer.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu: After pressing the tofu, cut it into cubes and place it in a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix Ingredients: Add nutritional yeast, soy sauce, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Combine until the tofu is evenly coated.
  3. Form Balls: With your hands, form the mixture into small balls, roughly the size of a golf ball.
  4. Coat with Panko: Roll each tofu ball in panko breadcrumbs until well-coated.
  5. Preheat Air Fryer: Heat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  6. Cook: Spray the basket with cooking spray, place the balls in a single layer, and cook for 12-15 minutes, turning halfway through until golden brown.

Notes

Ensure to press the tofu well for the best texture. Nutritional yeast can be increased for a cheesier flavor.
