Description
A quick and flavorful dish that combines ground beef, orzo pasta, and a creamy tomato sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it shimmers slightly.
- Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in diced tomatoes and bring to a simmer.
- Cook orzo according to package instructions, then drain and add to the beef mixture.
- Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream, mixing until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Allow onions to soften to prevent bitterness from the garlic. For the best texture, add heavy cream gradually after browning the beef.
